8 Quick and Easy Tips for Cutting Calories and Losing Weight

While not all of us feel that counting calories is important, or that every little bit counts, when you are trying to lower you daily caloric intake baby steps can work wonders. Here are a few quick and easy tricks for cutting calories daily and working towards a stronger and healthier body.
Drink Milk, Love Life
When counting calories, it is easy to focus on the numbers and fall into the habit of trying to cut out everything. The problem is that this means we lose sight of healthy calories such as the ones found in milk. Drinking close to 2,000 milligrams of milk per day can help ensure that your body doesn’t absorb all of the calories you take in throughout the day. Try to drink one full cup of milk before your morning coffee to make it easy to remember.
Pre-Cut your Veggies
While it may take a bit more work in the beginning, having washed and cut veggies ready in the fridge makes it easier to turn down other less healthy snacks. You can purchase vegetables that are cut if you want to avoid the hassle altogether, but it can get a bit more expensive.
Get your Water on
There are a number of new studies that are proving that consuming water can actually burn calories. Simply drinking two cups of warm or barely cool water can burn close to 25 calories. That equals out to a more than impressive 5 pounds per year and could mean the difference when trying to slink into your little black dress for New Year’s.
Blot your Food
Just speaking solely on the topic of pizza, blotting each slice with a napkin can remove close to a teaspoon of fat. If you indulge in just one slice of pizza every week then that means you have cut down on over a cup of unwanted fat, and kept it off of your trouble spots.
Focus on Eating
Take the time out of your day to always have sit down meals without any other distractions around. Turn the TV off, put your work away, and just focus on eating. This will give your stomach a better chance to tell your brain you are full, and cut down on overeating due to distraction.
Forgo Empty Fluids
If you are thirsty then try to chug back something that has value, and not something with empty calories or chemicals. Skip out on a Diet Coke and instead grab some healthy juice or a V8.
Keep Healthy Snacks On Hand
You never know when you might get ravenous throughout the day, and that is the point that we are all most likely to run to the vending machine or even head for Chinese food at lunch. Keep healthy, power snacks on hand such as nuts or a bean salad with low calorie dressing and you may be able to distract your mind from the temptations around you.
Use your Belt to your Advantage
Of course we are all used to loosening, or even unbuckling, our belts after a big meal, but instead try tightening your belt. If you are craving a particularly unhealthy food then tightening your belt just one notch can keep you focused and be a constant reminder of your favorite pair of pants you are trying to fit into.
When it comes to weight loss it really is the little things that matter. Trying to change everything in your life, hit the gym 3 times a day and dine on cabbage soup is often a recipe for failure. Give these quick and easy tips for cutting calories a try and you just may be surprised at how much easier it is to ditch a few unwanted pounds.

No Schlep Ways to Boost Weight Loss and Improve Health

Everyone knows by now that the key to losing weight and maintaining it is to adopt healthy living as a long-term lifestyle choice, rather than embracing fad diets. We also know that the secret to weight loss is breathtakingly simple: burn off more calories than you take in. Here are some top tips for achieving this without huge efforts, lifestyle changes, or adopting a radical new regime.
1. Flavor is the dieter and healthy eater’s friend. You don’t have to eat cabbage soup. Some of the best loved world foods are based on peasant cuisines where basic (and often bland) core ingredients are transformed by attention to flavor. Think pasta with pesto. Green vegetables are low calorie and nutrient-rich: a great sauce is the secret to eating them without feeling deprived.
2. Soup is a relatively little known secret in the world of weight loss and appetite control. Studies have shown that if you eat a standard meal with a glass of water, the water soon departs. But if the same meal is liquidized with the water, the water stays in the stomach. That means that the stomach remains fuller for longer and it will also be longer before you feel hungry again.
3. Seafoods and are very low calorie alternatives that can be very economical. Try cutting out just one meat meal a week Especially when fresh, prawns and calamari (without batter!) are very low in calories and delicious stir-fried with just a little bit of oil.
4. Standing up boosts your metabolism! It might not be as good as running a marathon, but it does make a difference. Something as simple as standing and stretching every time the TV commercials come on will contribute to weight loss and health.
5. Tweak your cooking techniques. For example, you can roast potatoes with hardly any fat or butter and get the same taste sensation. If dry-roasting and dry-frying is a step too far, don’t worry – cutting down on oil and fats will have almost the same effect in the long run.
6. Read labels on foods and get consumer-smart. You may be shocked to find how many food items that you think are low calorie are in fact stuffed with saturated fats and sugars. This is especially true of processed foods and ready meals, so try to find the time to make your own.
7. Get a grip on portion sizes. If you know the calorie and saturated fat content of a teaspoon of butter it will become second nature to think before you slap it liberally on your toast. Being just a little bit more careful won’t make a difference to the taste but really can stop you piling on pounds over time.
These small adjustments in the way we consume and live won’t do the trick alone if you’ve got fifty pounds to shift. If you’re slimming down a few pounds or trying to maintain weight loss, these almost effort-free changes will make a difference, even if they’re not instantly noticeable.

8 Ways to Burn More Calories without Hitting the Gym
We have all known the secret to weight loss for years. We need to burn away more calories than we ingest and it really can be as simple as that. It is easy to understand and reasonably easy to calculate but incredibly hard to pull of. Gathering the will power to jump up in the morning and get to the gym is a lot easier said than done.
I am not going to say anything unbelievable such as exercise isn’t important, but the good news is that there are other ways. It is important to exercise on a regular basis but there other little things that you can do to give yourself a weight loss boost.
Here are 8 excellent ways to burn more calories everyday that do not revolve around exercise
Burn Calories While you Eat
Eating properly is without a doubt one of the most important steps towards losing weight. Sure skipping out on junk food is a given, but did you know that there are a number of foods that can actually help your body burn calories rather than packing them on? The smarter you eat the more calories you can burn and the easier it will be to lose weight. So where do you begin? With foods such as celery, apples, lettuce, cucumber, zucchini and hot chili peppers. Just remember to stick to a balanced diet and utilize a variety of foods throughout the day.
Eat Less, More Often
Many experts are starting to note that eating more frequently can train your body to burn more calories and get into a healthy routine. If you eat 700 calories in one meal it is much harder for your body to break it down rather than eating 2 meals or a few snacks that equal out to 700 calories. When you begin a meal your body almost instantly burns some calories as it prepares itself to digest food. If you only eat 2 or 3 times a day then your body only has to do this a few times, however if you eat 5 or 6 times your digestive system will have to get geared up more often and thus burn more calories. Just keep your meals small and light and ensure you do not take in more calories than you normally do.
Love Breakfast
There are more than a few reasons why you should not skip breakfast. It isn’t even a subject of debate anymore as eating breakfast can get your digestion up and burning calories first thing in the morning. Skipping out on breakfast slows down your metabolism and ensures you are not burning as many calories as you could.
Power Up with Protein
Protein is one of the hardest things for your body to break down. Your digestive system has to go into overtime to digest protein which means that you are burning more calories while you consume it. Ingest certain proteins that are low in calories and better yet, eat them during breakfast and your weight loss goals are sure to benefit.
Put in Effort to Prepare your Meal
The little things that we do during the day can go along way towards burning extra calories and helping you look your best. Walk to the store to get ingredients for lunch and prepare it yourself. Ordering pizza for delivery or getting fast food through the drive thru is like a double whammy. You are ingesting lots of calories while losing an opportunity to burn some off. Incorporate ways to get moving while you prepare your meals and your body is sure to thank you.
Burn Calories while Drinking
Food isn’t the only thing that we consume that can help burn extra calories. If you make smart decisions and choose the right fluids you can also benefit from a number of things. If you are trying to burn the most calories possible then there are two important fluids you need; tea and water.
Water is one of our life lines and is really important for weight loss. The body has to work hard to absorb and use up the water that you drink, which means it is burning calories the entire time. Too many people do not consume enough water throughout the day and that is leading to their struggle to lose weight. Water really is a win-win as it helps burn calories without packing any on.
Green tea is another key for your weight loss goals. It has been proven by a number of sources to possess quite a few calorie burning properties. When you consume it your body will burn more calories than it brings in which can obviously boost weight loss. While green tea is a better choice you can also opt for black, caffeinated tea if you prefer the taste. Just be sure to avoid milk and sugar as they are unnecessary fillers that pack on the calories.
Burn Calories by Chewing Gum
The truth is that you will not be able to burn an incredible amount of calories by chewing gum, but every little bit helps. If you chew gum as often as you can, then the calories burned can definitely add up over time. The key is to choose a 0 calorie gum and to check in with your dentist before constantly chomping away. Your dentist will be able to steer you away from gum that can be bad for your teeth and help make sure you can take advantage of this calorie burning trick.
Move Around Often and Fast
Even putting the topic of exercise aside, you are still going to have to move around as much as possible to burn calories. Try to get yourself into the habit of doing normal activities with an extra little bit of oomph and speed. Simply walking to your car after work a bit faster and washing the dishes with a little extra vigor can prove to burn more calories than you might expect. Fitting in this type of movement can get you some much needed exercise without you feeling like you are overworking yourself. Get yourself a calorie counter that can show you how many calories you have burnt throughout the day from just moving around and doing what you have to do.
Losing weight can seem like an impossible goal, but just remember that every little bit helps. Keep moving, make smart choices and burn as many calories as you can throughout the day. Even if you do not want to lose weight the more calories you burn the more you can enjoy the foods you love, in moderation.

7 Gut-Busting Tips to Lose Belly Fat: Simple, Effective and Free
Stomach fat. There I said it. The bane of our existence, the annoying friend that never seems to go away, and the part of our bodies that weighs on our minds, forces us to diet, and tricks us into spending thousands of dollars on useless products and supposed secrets. Always staring back at you in the mirror and always laughing at you when you look down to tie your shoes. Companies have made millions, even billions, of dollars selling gimmicks, ploys, and crap trying to “help” use lose unsightly belly fat. Truth is, losing belly fat doesn’t have to be a battle that never ends and it isn’t all about some newfound, expensive secret for abs. Here are some promising methods for losing belly fat that might be easier and simpler than you ever imagined. Earth shattering information? Maybe not. Simple and effective gut-busting tips? Absolutely.
Lose Belly Fat Tip #1- Eat Properly and Exercise
Duh, right? Not necessarily groundbreaking stuff yet so many people neglect this part of losing weight and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Too many of us are guilty for looking for an easy way out and that is often what gets us off track. Millions of studies show that a balanced diet packed with vegetables, whole grains and fruits which is also low in fat and sugar combined with regular physical activity will battle fat like nothing else. A healthy lifestyle can reduce surface fat, and deeper fat underneath, as well as cut down on your risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol.
Lose Belly Fat Tip #2- Level Out to a Healthy Weight
No one should be sitting here telling you that losing belly fat is easy. However, you can improve your shape and your curves by cutting down on your body mass index. On average a healthy adult has a body mass index of between 19 and 25. The bottom line is that reaching a healthy weight and living a healthy lifestyle is the golden rule for belly fat. You can do pilates and crunches every morning yet if you are overweight you will still carry fat over top of your abs. On the other side of the coin, you can be slim but carry a pretty powerful gut if you do not live in a healthy fashion.
Lose Belly Fat Tip #3- Don’t Stress Out
Every day it seems that there is a stronger link between belly fat and stress. Stress can bring about a higher level of cortisol which can react with insulin in your body and create abdomen fat. If that wasn’t already enough, extra stress can also lure us towards sugary foods that can quickly pack on the pounds. Relaxing and cutting down on stress can help you pass over that box of chocolates or bowl of ice cream as a midnight snack. So how do you get started with stress relief? Yoga and meditation provide a great jump start and as an added bonus yoga can tone your body as well.
Lose Belly Fat Tip #5- Learn a Little From Asian Culture
It may take you time to get used to seaweed being anything more than the stuff that nips at your ankles when swimming, but its benefits are priceless. Brown seaweed contains fucoxanthin which has been shown to shrink abdominal fat over a number of studies. So next time you are out on the town grab a table at a sushi restaurant and dig into a seaweed salad or miso soup. They are healthy, seaweed appetizers that will fill you up and stop you from chowing down on spicy tempura rolls.
Lose belly Fat Tip #6-Spurn Trans Fats
I know that we already talked about healthy eating and healthy choices but trans fats deserve to be discussed more, and even deserve an entire book. These unhealthy fats are directly tied to cardiovascular disease and are infamous for going straight to your belly. Indulging in trans fats can increase the amount of visceral fat around your belly and even help distribute fat around your entire body. Just say no whenever you can.
Lose Belly Fat Tip #7- Don’t Believe the Hype
There are hundreds of studies done by qualified and professional doctors that show that the new, “high-tech”, ab busting, expensive home exercise equipment is no better than normal, old fashioned exercise. So stop eating a bag of chips and watching late night infomercials and falling for the gimmicks. Save money and lose belly fat through the use of reverse crunches, pull ups from an old fashioned captain’s chair, and the bicycle maneuver. They are simple, easy and effective ab exercises that will target your core and your belly fat.
Best 12 Healthy Living Tips for Losing Weight, Loving Life and Feeling Good
Are you trying to lose weight or even just remain healthy but feel entirely overwhelmed? I know how hard it is to stay on track and I know how easy it is to lose track of your weight loss decisions and even the food eaten throughout the day. What I have learned over time is what works and what doesn’t. I do not claim to make all the right decisions by any means and I am often guilty of overeating, overindulging or just being downright lazy. But you know what? That is ok now and then. We aren’t all fitness gurus and we do not have to be. Love life, enjoy yourself and take baby steps to fitness and a healthy lifestyle. With that in mind, here are the best 12 low key, easy to remember and effective healthy eating tips that you can stick right into your daily routine.
Best Healthy Eating Tip #1- Start a Food Diary
In many ways a food diary is the best and most important tool for weight loss. By keeping note of everything you consume throughout the day you get an excellent idea of the habits you are engaging in, healthy and unhealthy. It allows you to better understand what mistakes you are making, when you are making them and thus, how to identify certain areas that need to be changed. Sometimes it really is the mindless snacking throughout the day that packs on the pounds, and you don’t even remember doing it.
Best Healthy Eating Tip #2- EAT BREAKFAST
I don’t care how redundant I get, how many articles I mention this in or how annoyed hearing about it gets. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and even though I do skip it on each occasion it is those days where I feel sluggish and even overeat. A healthy choice full of protein can kick start your day, give you the energy to perform and regulate your blood sugar levels. Consider oatmeal, whole wheat bread with peanut butter or maybe even some fresh fruit and cottage cheese. Filling, healthy and with enough oomph to get you skipping your way to work.
Best Healthy Eating Tip #3- Taking Baby but Permanent Steps
Healthy living and weight loss doesn’t have to be a massive change where you uproot everything you do and enjoy in life. Whether you are trying to lower your cholesterol, lose weight or just feel better, it is often the small changes that you can commit to that make the biggest difference. For instance, start by measuring your food and the add-ons you use in cooking. Try measuring the amount of oil or butter you use when cooking your favorite meal and then cut it in half. In terms of oil, if you do that just once a week for a year it will equal just over 8,000 calories which can equal out to two pounds of weight loss. Slow, steady and calculated progression.
Best Healthy Eating Tip #4-Slow Down when Eating
Eating slowly is one of the best ways to cut down on the amount of food you consume and enjoy what you are eating. It sometimes takes time to get used to but once you reinforce the habit it can become second nature. You can begin by doing something as simple as putting down your utensils in between bites. Focus on what you are doing as well, shut off the TV and any other distractions and try to sit down for every meal. After a while you are sure to be less hungry and will enjoy your food a lot more.
Healthy Eating Tip #5- Reward Yourself with Treats and Sweets
Who doesn’t love chocolate? It can make you feel happy and it tastes good. It is ok to reward yourself with a piece of top quality chocolate as long as you do it with control. Scarfing down on an entire chocolate bar is not the best of ideas but neither is neglecting life’s little pleasures. Try this. Buy only top of the line and expensive chocolate and just eat a small piece from time to time and really savor it.
Healthy Eating Tip #6-Enjoy Holidays and Events with No Guilt
Everyone has times where they break down and give into temptation. They key is to not get down on yourself, enjoy the moment and then get back on the horse the next day. Times like Christmas and Thanksgiving are a time for friends, family, food and fun. Enjoy it, gobble down on turkey and cranberry sauce and just bring back your healthy eating habits the very next meal. As long as you do not make a habit of it, a few bad days is more than ok.
Healthy Eating Tip #7- Take Advantage of Fruits and Veggies in Season
If you purchase and consume fruits and vegetables when they are in season you will get a number of benefits. They will taste better, be easier to get and be a whole lot more affordable. In the summer revolve your meals around melons, peaches, cherries and so on and then in the fall try and fall in love with cabbage, tomatoes and squash. You cannot dispute the benefits and value of fresh fruits and veggies. They are easy to get, easy to eat and are full of nutrients, high in fiber and low in fat.
Healthy Eating Tip #8-Create an Individual Healthy Lifestyle
There are an infinite number of experts that can help you get on track with your diet and exercise plan. There are millions of books, diet plans and videos that will tell you exactly what to do. The fact is that your lifestyle has to fit your needs. Create a diet plan that is realistic and fun for you. Just because you read an article about a plan that worked for someone else doesn’t mean it will work for you. You are an individual with different needs and desires, so create a healthy lifestyle that fits. Jumping on the bandwagon of the hottest diet trend is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, it just doesn’t work.
Healthy Eating Tip #9- Cut Down on Hunger
Overeating and binge eating are often caused by depriving yourself and waiting too long in between meals. It really is best for many people to eat SOMETHING every 3-4 hours which means you can indulge in three meals and one or two snacks a day. Instead of waiting until you get too hungry to resist temptation try and pack healthy snacks wherever you go. Popcorn, low fat yogurt and fruit or a whole wheat pita with tuna and veggies are just some of the ideas you can consider. Make a list of healthy things you enjoy and you will have the power to resist the vending machine during the middle of the day.
Healthy Eating Tip #10- Carbs are not always the Enemy so Enjoy Healthy Carbs
There are substantial health benefits that can come from healthful carbs. Start enjoying a new type of grain every week and mix them into side dishes, casseroles or even salads to see which you enjoy best. Some of the top options are oatmeal, buckwheat, whole grain breads, barley and quinoa.
Healthy Eating Tip #11-Utilize Portion Control
Your measuring cup can be your best friend when it comes to dieting and weight loss. Measure the bowls, glasses and plates you use to find out how much food they can actually hold. If you find that your pasta bowl can hold 3-4 cups then you might want to invest in some smaller bowls. Visually and psychologically it has been proven that you will feel more satisfied eating a meal out of a full, small bowl than eating from a half full, large bowl.
Healthy Eating Tip #12- Focus on Keeping Hydrated
A lot of people take this tip too literally and chug down on juice, soda and even alcoholic beverages thinking it is ok. The best hydration actually comes from beverages that are non-caffeinated and nonalcoholic, as well as from soups and foods that are high in water such as fruits and veggies. Try to drink water at every meal and always keep some handy. If you find yourself bored then mix some lemon or lime into the water or even add a small portion or cranberry juice to the water. It can liven up your drink without the caloric punch.
Simple, calculated success. Enjoy life, enjoy food and just be mindful of what you are doing throughout the day. We are not all going to appear on “The Biggest Loser”, we are not all going to have washboard abs, but we all can live a healthy, happier life thanks to a few small changes.

Aerobic Exercise Can Be Convenient and Easily Worked Into Your Daily Routine
Run, Swim, Jog, Dance, or Walk
So many people today use the excuse that we simply do not exercise due to all the conveniences of modern life. The majority of people will pick the easiest way to do things and this is natural as a survival trait. All of us have developed this trait in order to conserve our energies for times of high stress. However, for our modern lives it is definitely crucial to work in exercise whenever we can despite the temptation to say we are too busy. If you aren’t sure how to work exercise into your daily life you have come to the right place. We are going to look at simple, effective ways you can make sure you slip some aerobic exercise into your daily routine, without all of the hassle.
What Exactly is Aerobics?
Aerobic exercise, for those of us who were napping in high school health class, is any kind of exercise that is moderate to high in its intensity and meant to be performed for at least 20 to 30 minutes. This means that during those 20 to 30 minutes you will be getting your heart rate up and preferably breaking a sweat.
Aerobic exercise is meant to primarily work your heart and lead to better cardiovascular health by getting your blood circulating better. It is also useful for building your stamina and giving you a body that can endure more strenuous activities. Ideally, when you are performing aerobic exercise you want to warm up first which can be done through stretching to avoid cramps. You will also want to engage in a few minutes of cool down which helps you not have such a rapid stop. It’s all about staying in a physical flow.
Aerobic Exercise Can Be Free
If you don’t have a lot of money to splurge on high end fitness equipment and you haven’t got a local track, don’t worry because a jog through your neighborhood counts as a solid aerobic plan. Even a brisk walk can count if you’re sincere about it. You can try stair climbing or even dancing if that is more your style. Plenty of people find solo exercise to be mundane so you could look for a partner, but be aware that this means you may make excuses when that person doesn’t show up.
Swimming is usually a very low cost alternative that might be more pleasant for those who aren’t into running through the heat or cold of their local climate. Bike riding or running with your dog can work. Finally, jumping rope can be done indoors and so can shadow boxing. Really, wherever you have a little space you can find some sort of aerobic activity from jumping jacks to jogging in place in front of the TV, you’re only limited by personal creativity and your own willingness to commit to exercising.
In the end, it’s all about what you actually want to do. There are always ways to exercise if you can get a single half hour to yourself. It’s all a matter of committing. When you’re first starting out, keep in mind that baby steps often help make these goals a reality quicker than rapid pushes towards huge goals and the resulting yo-yo of attempting, quitting, and attempting again. There are a variety of aerobic exercises out there and any real motion can benefit your lifestyle. Pick something you love to do and put your heart into it and it will be a lot easier to get into a healthy routine.

However nutritionists are beginning to realize that it is much healthier in the long run to indulge yourself and satisfy your cravings than to try to ignore them all the time. The thought behind it is that in the long run you probably won’t be able to resist the urge and will end up overeating or going on a junk food binge. Snack, but stay smart about it.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #2- Shut Down the Television
There are numerous studies that have shown that watching TV while you eat can actually cause you to consume up to 40% more calories during your meal. In fact, any distracting activity such as writing, texting, talking on the phone, or driving can prevent your brain from letting you know that you are no longer hungry. Instead of multi-tasking and eating on the go, try to make every meal a sit down event by plating it and just enjoying the food.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #3- Find a Balance for Stepping on the Scale
We have discussed before the negative effects of weighing yourself on daily basis. If you step on the scale everyday then you are likely to get discouraged if there is no noticeable difference, and end up shutting down. On the other hand, neglecting to weigh yourself at least once a week may prevent you from realizing you have been making poor decisions. By keeping tabs on your weight you can determine when you need to cut back a little or when you should start spending an extra ten minutes on the treadmill.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #4- Mould your Body 3 Times a Week
Now before you get scared, this doesn’t mean that you HAVE to engage in a killer and lengthy muscle workout. However, spending just 15 minutes on a quick muscle maintaining workout 3 times a week can help you hold on to old muscle and create new muscle. Try doing just 5 minutes of squats, sit-ups, and push-ups while changing the exercise every 30 seconds. Take a breather and perform the cycle two more times. In just 15 minutes or so you can boost your muscle growth which can engage your metabolism and help you burn more calories throughout the day.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #5- Find Support and Engage
If you find yourself trapped in cravings and fighting the urge to binge or scarf down some high calorie treat, try calling a friend. Talk about something completely off topic and engage yourself in the conversation. Nutritionists have put out studies stating that often times cravings last for less than 5 minutes. By the time you are finished talking, gossiping, or doing whatever it is you do on the phone, you may not crave junk anymore. You will be closer with your friends and love the fact that you avoided the unnecessary junk and empty calories.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #6- Munch on a Hearty Breakfast
A big breakfast full of protein and carbs can ensure that your blood sugar levels remain steady throughout the day. While you may be concerned about eating a number of calories so early in the day, it can in fact fight hunger pains and prevent you from overeating during lunch and dinner. Stock up on breakfast and choose something satisfying such as whole wheat toast, turkey bacon, and egg whites. Mom always said that a big breakfast could go a long way, and she was right.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #7- Binge Drinking DOES Equal Beer Belly
Now this doesn’t mean that you can not enjoy drinking. There is often nothing better after a stressful week, and a cocktail here and there can feel so rewarding. However, one seemingly innocent Margarita can quickly pile on hundreds of empty calories. You can enjoy yourself on the weekends but try to make up for it somewhere else, or fit in a little more cardio on the morning of a party night. Also try to stick to alcoholic beverages such as vodka and soda or wine as they are sure to pack less of a caloric punch than cocktails.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #8-Consume Fruit More than Once a Day
Fruit is made up of mostly water and contains no fat. What that means is it will fill you up quicker and keep you away from other high cal options. A lot of people tend to become too concerned with the amount of carbs in fruit. With fruit you are only dealing with the good kinds of carbohydrates that can give you a steady does of healthy fiber. Indulge in apples, oranges, grapefruit, or anything that you can enjoy as a healthy snack.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #9- Fit in a Little Extra Sleep
We are all running around, working hard, taking care of kids, preparing meals, and enjoying our social lives. Sleep can easily take a backseat to all the other things going on in our lives but you should try and put it to the forefront. Just trying to get to sleep 30 minutes earlier and waking up 30 minutes later can boost your metabolism and enhance your ability to make smart food choices. Fatigue is a big cause of snacking and that extra sleep can relax you, leave you with more energy, and soothe stress.
Simple Weight Loss Tip #10- Positive Thinking and Visualization
When you feel like you are about to give in and dive into a box of chocolate or 7 Cosmopolitans, think positive and place a picture in your mind of yourself looking thin. That visual motivation of your long term success can help you stay focused on your goal and stay determined. Even if you have a rough week on the scale, do not give up and just think about how you will look later on. You can almost treat it the same way as dangling a carrot in front of a rabbit. Dangle that picture of you looking fit and feeling healthy in front of you and chances are your legs will get moving a little quicker.
If all ten of these simple weight loss tips seem easy, fit them all into your daily routine. If you see yourself struggling to make all these changes then just remember that sticking to as few as three of the tips can help you lose weight. Do not overwhelm yourself and most of all do not feel as if your weight cannot be controlled. You have the power to make small changes and benefit your body and mind. How Self Defense Training Can Help Us Feel Better

Gain Peace and a Sense of Security with Self Defense
Be Prepared in an Unpredictable World
It may seem like a no-brainer to think that self defense training can help us feel better, but the benefits go even further than you might think. Beyond the obvious confidence that we can enjoy once we know that we’re prepared for emergencies that might turn violent, there are other contributions that solid self defense training can offer to anyone who cares to pursue this path of education.
A Sense of Security with Self Defense
One crucial benefit of increased confidence is that we share that sense of security with those that we are around. We inherently know that we will have an edge in a dangerous situation. Those around us will be able to relax a little bit more, but their confidence will be boosted, as well. It’s the same general feeling that you might have in the presence of a police officer. Their training helps us all be a little bit safer in a society that isn’t always as safe and predictable as we might like.
Whether you are practicing martial arts or another form of self defense, it is almost always going to be a physical activity. That means you are going to be conditioning your body and strengthening yourself. This leads to a healthier body, but it also has the side benefit of expanding our minds to think more in terms of physical situations, and how we want to react to them. Knowing more can help us get more out of life, whether it’s in terms of physical skills or knowledge.
Extending Personal Discipline
Any form of self defense preparedness training is going to require some level of personal discipline. We can all benefit from an increase in self discipline and that also helps build healthier emotional conditions within ourselves. We can expand as we learn that we are more capable than we may have believed ourselves to be at first. It is definitely a skill that extends past what we use when we are in a dangerous situation because personal discipline helps us at work, in our every day interactions, with others, and in obtaining our personal goals.
As you can see, self defense training can help us in a variety of ways that go beyond saving our own lives. In the very least we know that we are capable of defending our friends and family should that unfortunate need ever arise in our lives. At the same time, we stand to gain a deeper understanding of the always complex chemistry of human behaviour. We learn how to use what we have to offer in a way that betters our lives and the lives of those around us.
Self Defense brings peace of mind and even stability to a life that is unpredictable and at times quite unforgiving.

No Time for the Gym? Too Stressed to Work Out? Then Utilize this 1 Minute Fat Busting Workout to Lose Weight

Get Ready to Bust Fat in 1 Minute
In the perfect world you will have more than enough time in the day to fit in that fat busting workout. You will jump out of bed at the sound of your alarm clock, feel chipper and be ready to drop to the floor for 100 pushups. As we all know already, this is just not how it works. While a full, balanced and complete workout is the best way to get healthier, lose weight and feel better, it isn’t always an option everyday. If you have a huge business meeting, a hundred errands to do and can’t find an extra time, do not stress yourself out over your workout as well. On truly hectic days you just have to cut your losses. Get the kids to school on time, finish your errands and do what you have to do. However you can still feel good about yourself and get your body primed for a full workout tomorrow. All thanks to this 1 minute workout that is designed to target all your core muscle groups. No more excuses and no more days off. Take one minute out of your day and focus on major muscles and even get a little boost of cardio if you really push yourself.
Don’t believe it? It’s time to believe. Perform each of these maneuvers back to back without any break in between. While it may take you a bit longer at first, with a little determination you will be able to fit these routine into your day in under 60 seconds. And all you need is a yoga mat and the right attitude.
Plank Push-Up Pose
Start by standing with your feet shoulder width apart. Slowly squat down and place your hands on the mat in front of your feet. Walk your feet back into a plank position, tighten your abs and extend the body. Hold this position tight for a count of 10. After you count to 10, perform 2 pushups (on your knees if you have to) and return to a standing position. Repeat the exercise 4 more times for a total set of 5.
The Superman
Lie flat on your stomach with your arms stretched out over your head and your legs straight. Extend your entire body, and lift your arms and legs off of the mat to about 45 degrees. Hold the position for 10 seconds and repeat just 2 or 3 times, or whatever you feel comfortable with.
The Bicycle for Abs
Lie down flat on your back with your hands behind your head. Lift your legs and your feet off of the mat and bend your knees to a 90-degree angle. Now, lift your head and shoulders off the mat. Slowly rotate your stomach and chest so that your right shoulder is moving towards your left knee. At the same time extend your right leg and then alternate for a total of 10 repetitions for each side of the body.
That’s it and that’s all. Will this 60 second workout turn you from a couch potato into a track star or a fitness model? Absolutely not. However it is a great way to keep your body working even when you can barely find time for a trip to the bathroom. Use this 1 minute fat busting workout on the days where getting to the gym or going for a jog are simply impossible. It will keep you primed, keep your body ready for a better workout, and keep you from falling out of your workout routine. Often times one full day without a workout or exercise can send you spiraling back into your old habits. And we promised each other that we wouldn’t let that happen, didn’t we?
