5 Easy Tips for Staying Healthy; Being Healthy Doesn’t Have to Be so Complicated
It can be exhausting trying to stay healthy, fit in the right amount of exercise and try to keep your diet balanced and full of the appropriate nutrients. It can be seemingly impossible to find the time to do this everyday, and can even make you feel like you are working two full-time jobs. While a balanced diet and steady amounts of exercise are the keys for a long and healthy life, there are also some unique tips for staying healthy. Keep on track with your diet and exercise, but take advantage of the added benefits of these 5 easy tips for a healthy life.
1-Donate Blood
Giving blood is an incredibly gracious thing to do and can really help someone else out when they need it most. There is always a need for blood, and thus donating blood has always been seen as a selfless and kind act. What you may be surprised to learn is that recent studies have linked reduced risk for certain cancers with donating blood. There is also a chance that it may reduce the risk for heart disease, although doctors are not sure why and the study suggests men received an added benefit. However, even if you are in doubt when it comes to these studies the fact is that donating blood is a great way to get a planned, mini check up. Your blood pressure will be checked and you will have to give a run down to the doctor of your health history. Now you really have no excuse at all to not give blood. Help save the lives of others while you get a bit of extra benefits for yourself.
2-Keep your Hands Clean
This is a simple step that you can take to up your overall health, but something that many people often ignore. This does not mean that you need to obsessive compulsive and stop shaking hands or start constantly using hand sanitizer, but washing your hands frequently is a good idea. Washing your hands a few times a day can protect you from all sorts of diseases and ensure that your immune system stays strong. There are a number of infectious diseases that can be transmitted via phones, railings, elevator buttons, desktops and all sorts of other objects. It is especially important for children to wash up whenever they can, so remind them as much as possible, and remind yourself. Recent studies have shown that hand washing can decrease a child’s risk for diarrhea and pneumonia in half. And the best part is how easy it is do; all you need is a little bit of soap and some water.
3- Sleeping in isn’t Just for Teenagers
So many people these days are overworking themselves. It may seem that working all day, and then coming home and working more will be beneficial for the security of your future, but the effect it can have on your health is simply not worth it. An extremely large number of adults are suffering from sleeping disorders or not getting enough sleep on a daily basis. Sleep is what keeps your body functioning, your mind working, and your health at its best. It has been noted that serious health problems such as heart attacks, obesity and high blood pressure are often linked to sleep deprivation. While you may find it difficult to get the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep per night, you shouldn’t ignore the benefits of a good power nap in the afternoon. Stock up on some much needed sleep whenever you can, and shut the alarm off on the weekends if you can.
4-Fall in Love with Fish
It seems like there are so many things that can increase your risk for a stroke or a heart attack. Keeping track of everything can get exhausting but fish can make it simple. There are very few foods that can provide so much nutrition and bring so many benefits into your life. Doctors worldwide are now preaching the benefits of eating oily fish at least two times per work. This doesn’t mean that the fish and chips special should make it onto your plate every week however. Ignore fried fish and stick to smaller, grilled options such as salmon, herring and mackerel and your heart will thank you later. If you are a big fan of tuna try opting for light tuna and veering away from tuna steaks or albacore due to their high levels of mercury.
5-Skip Out on the Antibiotics
It seems that antibiotics are seen as the quick fix for everything and often the first thing people turn to when they get the sniffles or the flu. This simply should not be the case. Yes antibiotics can help when dealing with bronchitis or certain infections but in some situations they can make things worse. Your immune system is a powerful and remarkable thing and has the ability to fight off minor illnesses and diseases on its own. Antibiotics can negate your body’s natural ability to fight disease and you can become reliant on certain prescriptions. When dealing with certain issues it is best that you do not turn to antibiotics as the first step, and look for other, natural solutions first.
Staying healthy and making health conscious decisions all the time can be exhausting. There are certain things you must do to maintain a healthy lifestyle, even though they are not easy or convenient. However, the aforementioned tips for a healthy lifestyle are easy to implement and can really improve your overall health. Taking care of your health does not always have to be as complicated as it seems. There are some simply tips such as avoiding antibiotics whenever you can, treating yourself to some extra sleep, donating blood, washing your hands, and eating fish that can really make a difference. Make smart decisions, stay informed and take some baby steps for long term health.

Some Simple Steps to Help You Quit Smoking; Improve your Health, Feel Better and Live Longer

Get Ready for a Positive Change in Your Life
No matter which way you look at it, tobacco kills. It is as simple as that, and realizing this fact is the best first step you can take when trying to quit smoking. The more you smoke, the better your odds are of developing a major illness and not living as long as you wish. If you are a smoker, then there is no doubt that you worry about what it is doing to your health. Even though you may act as if it doesn’t effect you or convince others around you that it is not important, the feeling is probably always in the back of your mind. Brining it to the forefront and realizing that a healthy life and tobacco do not go together is a valuable transition when you are looking to quit smoking.
The problem is that it is not the only step. Nicotine is highly addictive, but you already know that and are probably already aware of how difficult it can be to stop. One of the keys for any successful campaign to quit smoking is to find support and create an individual and personalized action plan. Stay positive and remember that just in case you fail once, does not mean it is a lost cause. If you try to quit and cannot maintain it, stay strong, pick yourself up and start all over again. As with anything, success when it comes to stopping smoking does not come overnight.
The First Step
The first thing that you need to do is set a start date. Don’t refer to it as a stop date as this is the start of a new beginning not an end to something. Prepare yourself for the beginnings of your new life and set a start date a few weeks in advance. Waking up on a Monday and deciding to quit can up your stress levels and increase your chances of falling of the horse. Slowly cut down leading up to your start date and prepare yourself mentally and physically.
Create a Plan
Plans lead to success in a number of areas. You wouldn’t walk into a business meeting without a plan, and you shouldn’t attack your cravings without a plan either. Map out specific details of your plan, and the first step should always be surrounding getting support. Support can come from a number of different places, via your friends, family, online forums or even a support group. Do not be ashamed to seek out help or feel that others are unwilling. Many people have been through what you are about to go through and are more than happy to lend a hand. Support does not necessarily just revolve around people, you can also turn to anti-craving products such as gum or even audio tapes to give you that extra lift.
What’s the Next Step?
A great way to tackle any addiction whether it is smoking or even video games, is to avoid high risk places. If you wanted to stop using the internet so much, you wouldn’t go to the internet café, so do not head to the bingo hall or a place you used to smoke with friends. Instead plan a trip to a museum, book store or even a movie theatre where smoking is strictly prohibited.
Be Prepared for Stress
In the long run, a smoke free life will be much healthier and happier. The problem is that in the short term you may experience a lot more stress than you first predicted. This is where the support will come in handy. Keep yourself occupied with activities that make you happy, and your mind off of nicotine. Just try to repeat the benefits over and over in your head. Quitting smoking will reduce your risk for heart disease in half after just one year. After five years your body will be repaired and you could possibly be as healthy as someone who has never touched a cigarette in their life.
In order to quit smoking you need to make a personalized action plan. Not everything will work for everyone, and be ready to take a stab at quitting a few times. Create a personalized action plan, find the support you need and be prepared to work hard. It may be a struggle at first, but in the long run your heart, your body and your grandchildren will thank you.

The Secrets for a Long, Happy and Healthy Life; Lower your Risk for Heart Disease and Feel Better

Smart Decisions Now Can Change Your Future
Short, sweet and effective just like a bubble bath on a lazy Sunday afternoon; here are 3 tips for living a long, happy and healthy life.
Stay Away from Smoke
Just because you are a non-smoker does not mean that cigarette smoke won’t affect you. Do your best to stay away from places like the smoking section at a club, or kick your friends outside when they smoke. Even just being around cigarette smoke in general can increase your risk of a heart attack. The secondhand smoke narrows your arteries over time and can also lead to immediate health concerns. Scientists have noted that being around cigarette smoke for just a few minutes can have the same negative effect as if you were smoking yourself. So brighten up your life by avoiding those situations and focusing on getting clean air and oxygen into your body.
Engage in Short, Strenuous Workouts
All exercise or physical activity is good. Unlike foods and habits, there is often no such thing as a truly bad workout. However, newer studies are proving that short, intense workouts may be more effective than a 45 minute slow jog every morning. Pump your heart and lower your risk of heart disease by engaging in 4 minute bursts of activity in sets of 4. It can also be a lot less stressful than planning a two hour trip to the gym. Take a coffee break and sprint up the stairs at the office for 4 minutes at a time, with 4 minute breaks in between, 4 times. The power of 4 could have your heart pumping and working hard for the rest of the day.
Fall in Love with Fat
Fat does not have to be the devil when it comes to your nutrition plan. What you are after here is monosaturated fat. Eating healthy doses of this fat can lower your bad cholesterol and prevent heart attacks. Some examples of foods that are stacked with monosaturated fats are peanut butter, avocados, salmon and other fatty fish and nuts. Do your best to avoid foods that are filled to the brim with trans or saturated fats. Make the effort to improve your diet and in years you may be sitting back, healthy as a fiddle and thanking those delicious monosaturated fats.
