Improving Health, Body, Mind and Soul With Positive Thinking

Break Free With Positive Thought

Perhaps you have heard about the so-called power of positive thinking. Maybe you are wondering exactly what this means and whether or not it is a fanciful story created by those who wish to sell you something. As in all things, opinions on the validity of positive thinking and its benefits will certainly vary from person to person. It is a given that no approach will work for each and every individual, but in the case of this article let’s take a look at the general idea of this positive approach to life and what it could do for you.

While there are many different schools of thought when it comes to thinking positive, the general thrust of the overall philosophy is that a person generates energy with their thoughts. This energy is sometimes seen as a product of the brain itself, while other times it is considered to be generated by the soul of an individual. Both of those schools of thought believe that you attract positive things into your life by thinking about positive things. In other words, by focusing on the good things in life you can attract those good things to you.

Creating Opportunity Through Visualization

Often, this is explained as activating the subconscious mind, the part of our brain that is active all the time. By activating this area of our brain, those who advocate positive thinking believe that we are ‘loading our mind’ so that it will function on our behalf. Thus we will begin thinking about how we can get what we want, and how to be even more happy than we already are with our lives. The fundamental principle is ‘like attracts like’ which you could also think of as ‘birds of a feather all flock together’. This is especially emphasized in a 2006 book called “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne, a very influential text on the powers of positive thinking.

Happy Thoughts Equal a Happy Life

Happy Thoughts Equal a Happy Life

Following the idea that this style of ‘mind shaping’ (also called ‘thought shaping’) can work, then the next question is how do we put this to use? It isn’t simply about thinking of happy things constantly as if you’re in a drug induced state, but rather focusing on the positive aspects of your life and situation. What this does is help control your mood. The reason that mood control is an important part of health and the effectiveness of a person is because we all function much better when we are not depressed. Depression, which is what many believe negative thinking leads to, lowers a person’s ability to keep social relationships healthy and also limits their daily function.

Shaping Society As Well As Our Own Minds

The next component is the idea that our thoughts can shape the world around us, not just our own moods. This seems like a large leap at first, but in reality it’s not quite as outlandish as it sounds. Think of it this way, every man made building on the planet began as a thought. The same goes for our clothing, our technologies, everything that man has made began as a thought in someone’s imagination. The reasoning of positive thinkers leads them to the idea that if our thoughts, our very imagination, can affect the world around us in a massively powerful way then we may be creating additional effects via our thoughts on top of what science has been able to explain so far in our history.

Is There Hard Scientific Evidence for Positive Thinking?

While a belief system such as positive thinking or any other philosophy is not exactly the sort of thing that hard science is meant to analyze, there is some evidence that thoughts may be able to alter things.  Masaru Emoto of Japan is a man who has conducted solo and group experiments where he had water photographed after people have concentrated their thoughts on that water. The resulting photographs of the water crystals are presented to show the striking visual differences between crystals that had negative thoughts focused on them and those which were focused on with positive thoughts. You will need to be the judge of whether or not this is valid, but it is certainly interesting.

Create a Positive Atmosphere in your Life

Create a Positive Atmosphere in your Life

At its core, the power of positive thinking is that it encourages us to take control over our own thought processes, to examine what we think and why we think it so that we can use our minds for our own purposes, rather than be buffeted by the world around us. Focusing on our personal desires and controlling our moods so that we are more effective are tactics that have worked for a great number of successful people from actor Will Smith to investing mogul Warren Buffet. It’s one free step that you can take to get your life closer to the point that you dream of. All you need is a spirit of determination and your own imagination.

Visualize what you want. Strive for the things that matter. Envision yourself reaching your goals. Shun negative thoughts and grasp the positive energy that surrounds. Positive thought attracts positive actions. Believe in yourself, believe in what you are capable of and your goals may just be closer than you thought possible. And the best part is that there is no risk involved, no free trial, no money back guarantee, and no shameless self promotion.

It is all about you and the power of your mind, break free from the shackles of negative thought and find out what you are really capable of.
